Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and transfer to Kampala
Land at Entebbe International Airport; your driver-guide takes you about an hour to your hotel in Kampala for the first night.

Day 2: Kampala to Murchison Falls via Ziwa
An early start, with pickup at about 6:00 from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. On the way north you stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to walk with a ranger to the southern white rhinos, the only wild rhinos in Uganda, before carrying on to Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3: Murchison Falls: game drive and the top of the falls
Murchison in one day: a dawn game drive on the Nile's northern bank, an afternoon boat up the river towards the falls, and the hike to the top, where the whole Nile forces its way through a gorge just 23 ft (7 m) wide.

A travel day south along the Albertine Rift, through Fort Portal to Kibale Forest.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale
In Kibale you follow a ranger to a habituated chimpanzee community and spend up to an hour watching them feed, call and move through the canopy. In the afternoon the Bigodi wetland walk adds more monkeys and birds such as the great blue turaco.

Head south past the crater lakes to Queen Elizabeth National Park, set between Lakes Edward and George, in time for an evening drive on the Kasenyi plains.

How fit do I need to be for gorilla trekking?
Reasonably fit. Treks last from under an hour to six hours on steep, often muddy slopes at altitude. Porters and walking sticks make a big difference, and rangers try to match groups to fitness. The minimum age is 15.
Is the last day too long?
It is a long day, about 9 hours on the road with a game drive. Many guests add a night near Entebbe, or fly from Bwindi instead and skip Lake Mburo.
