Why Plan a Tanzania Honeymoon for the Dry Season?
From June to October the parks are dry, the grass is short and animals gather near water, so game viewing is at its best, and Zanzibar has sunny, breezy days and calmer conditions than in the rains. It is also the busiest time, so book the lodges early: 9–12 months ahead for July to October. If you travel in January or February instead, the safari is green and the beach hot and mostly dry. See the best time for a Tanzania safari.
Can You Add Kilimanjaro or Change the Plan?
- Add a Kilimanjaro climb before the safari, as on our 19-day adventure honeymoon; see also Kilimanjaro, safari and Zanzibar in one trip
- Move a Serengeti night north for the migration river crossings, July to October
- Swap the beach area: Nungwi or Kendwa in the north, or a night in Stone Town
- Choose mid-range lodges on safari and keep a special villa for the beach

The Bottom Line
For a two-week Tanzania honeymoon, give the safari eight days and the beach five: Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti from special lodges, then a villa with its own pool on Zanzibar, from US$18,765 per person for two. Plan for June to October, book early, and tell us your wedding date.
