Your Vehicle and Guide

The Baobabs of Tarangire

Tarangire changes with the seasons more than most parks. From June to October the land dries out, and the Tarangire River becomes the only water for miles around; elephants, zebras, wildebeest and buffaloes move in from the surrounding country, and the park holds some of the largest concentrations of elephants in Tanzania. From November to May the rains turn the park green, many animals spread out into the wider ecosystem, and the birdlife is at its best, with migrant species arriving from Europe and Asia. The park is quieter and the light is soft; game viewing is less concentrated but still rewarding. Whatever the month, Tarangire's baobabs make it one of Tanzania's most beautiful parks.
