Day 1: Arrival and an evening in Stone Town
We meet you at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, or at the ferry port if you come from Dar es Salaam, and take you to your hotel in Stone Town. In the evening, the food stalls at Forodhani Gardens on the seafront are a short walk away.

Day 2: Stone Town walk, Prison Island, then the north coast
A guided morning walk through the old town: the carved doors, the Old Fort, the Darajani market and the site of the former slave market. After lunch a private boat takes you about 30 minutes out to Prison Island to meet the Aldabra giant tortoises and swim off the beach. Late in the afternoon we drive you about an hour north to Kendwa or Nungwi.

A free day by the sea. Nungwi has the livelier strip of restaurants and the dhow builders; Kendwa is calmer, with a long beach that rarely loses the water at low tide.
