Is the AFCON Kilimanjaro Package Right for You?

It suits fit, adventurous fans who want one big personal goal as well as the football. You need about twelve days and the stamina for 5–7 hours of walking a day for a week; no climbing experience is required. Put the climb first: summit night is easier on fresh legs than after a week of match days.

This package suits you if… Consider another trip if…
You have about twelve days and want to summit Kilimanjaro You have five days: the AFCON Arusha Fan Base
Your team plays in Arusha, or you can fly up from Dar es Salaam You'd rather see the Serengeti: AFCON matches, Serengeti and Zanzibar
You're happy to walk 5–7 hours a day for a week You'd like a taste of the mountain only: the Kilimanjaro day hike

The Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium is a new 30,000–32,000-seat stadium under construction and one of four proposed Tanzanian venues; CAF confirms the venues with the fixtures. If your team's matches end up in Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar instead, we rebuild the plan around that city and requote it.

When Should You Climb Around the AFCON Fixtures?

Before your team's first match, if you can. The tournament starts on June 19, 2027, so a climb starting in the first half of June finishes in time for the group stage, and June is a dry month on the mountain, with clear days and the coldest nights of the year near the summit. If you'd rather follow your team first, the same climb works straight after their last match, any time in July.

How Much Does the AFCON Kilimanjaro Package Cost?

From US$2,645 per person for 2 climbers at mid-range level, US$2,190 at budget level and US$3,520 at luxury level. The hotel level changes the Moshi and Arusha nights; the climb itself, with the same crew, camps and meals, is identical at every level.

Common Questions About the AFCON Kilimanjaro Package

Should I climb before or after the matches?

Before, if your fixtures allow: you climb on fresh legs, and the match days become your rest days. Climbing straight after your team's last match works just as well.

Do I need climbing experience?

No. The Machame route is a long walk with one scramble at the Barranco Wall; you need good fitness for 5–7 hours of walking a day.

Is June a good time to climb Kilimanjaro?

Yes. June and July are dry months on the mountain, with clear views; nights near the summit are the coldest of the year, so bring or rent warm gear.

Are match tickets included?

No. Tickets are sold through the official tournament channels, but we can help: we guide you through the official sale, help you buy tickets for your team's matches and can arrange the purchase for you, then plan the days and transfers around them.

Can a supporter who isn't climbing come along?

Yes. Non-climbers can spend the climbing days on day trips from Moshi and Arusha and meet the climbers in Arusha for the matches; we quote them separately.

The Bottom Line

Climb Kilimanjaro in early June, then cheer your team in Arusha: twelve days, one team arranging everything, from US$2,645 per person for two at mid-range level. Tell us your team, and we time the climb to the fixtures.

Ready to plan your trip?

Tell us your dates and interests and our team in Moshi will send a written quotation with the itinerary and price.
