Cycling Tour to Ngorongoro Crater From Kilimanjaro Package Itinerary
This cycling tour package from Kilimanjaro to Ngorongoro crater will take you from the town of Moshi at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro to Ngorongoro crater passing the safari city of Arusha Along the way, you will also visit Tarangire National Park is the bird haven and the park is renowned for its herd of elephants and big concentration of baobab trees. From Tarangire National Park you will visit Lake Manyara National Park which is another bird haven park, from Lake Manyara you will head to your last destination the Ngorongoro crater:
Day 1 | Arrival in Moshi
Upon your arrival in Moshi you will be greeted by Jaynevy Staff and you will be taken from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your designated hotel for your rest.
Day 2 | Moshi Town - West Kilimanjaro | 64km
We will cycle to the west side of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will feel both, big tarmac and dirty gravel roads, while you are riding first, through Chagga villages, banana and coffee plantations, and green lush forests. After that, as we are going more west, the land becomes less overgrown with plants, with more arid open plains. That is the land of the Maasai people, and you will find yourself in a different landscape and culture. While you are cycling small uphills and downhills you can cross the roads of different wildlife species. We will end today’s driving lot in Ngabobo village where you will overnight.
Day 3 | West Kilimanjaro - Arusha | 83km
This cycling tour will be long, mostly on the dirty and dusty road, but without big uphills. You will cycle through Ngasurai open plains, the migratory path for wildlife, especially elephants, who are coming from Amboseli National Park in Kenya. As you enter the main tarmac road to Arusha, driving will become easier. You will pass through a few villages with a magnificent view of the mountain Meru in the background. The overnight will be in a Hotel in Arusha.
Day 4 | Arusha - Tarangire National Park | 102 km
This will be the longest ride on this cycling tour to Ngorongoro crater, but less demanding since you will cycle mostly on the tarmac roads. You will pass several colorful Tanzanian villages with strong culture and scenic pictures of everyday life. the end of the route will be on the border of Tarangire National Park, with the largest concentration of elephants in Tanzania. Here you will have time to rest and enjoy in Roika Tented Lodge where we will overnight.
Day 5 | Tarangire National Park - Lake Manyara | 74km
Another exciting day as we cycle through the migratory wildlife corridors between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks, The first section of the ride takes us back to the main road which we follow for a few kilometers then divert on a dirt road towards Lake Manyara, This area is rich in wildlife and you will notice a significant number of Maasai settlements along the way, One of today's highlights will be the beautiful views of the Great Rift Valley directly in front of us as we head towards Lake Manyara, After the dirt road section of today's ride, we will rejoin the main tarmac road towards Mto wa Mbu town for several kilometers before diverting along the dirt road towards Migunga Tented Camp where we will be spending the night.
Day 6 | Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater | 43km
The final ride of this Ngorongoro Cycle, and it's the toughest day but the most rewarding, We start off the day cycling from the dirt road back onto the tarmac and head past the bustling town of Mto wa Mbu and the entry gate of Lake Manyara National Park, We then proceed on a very tough cycle up the Great Rift Valley escarpment leaving behind a spectacular backdrop.
Before reaching the top of the escarpment you will stop to catch your breath at the viewpoint overlooking the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park and its surroundings, You will then proceed on the tarmac road past the colorful Karatu town as you head towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Finish at the entrance gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, You will then be transferred to your overnight accommodation for lunch and a celebratory toast to your achievement, it's time to rest and relax ready to enjoy your surroundings
Day 7 | Departure Tanzania
Transfer to the airport at the appropriate time for your flight home
