Kili Marathon 2027 Key Dates: When to Register, Book and Arrive
Two dates matter more than any others: December 15, 2026, when entries close, and Friday, February 5, 2027, the most comfortable day to arrive and collect your race number in Moshi. This is the whole timeline, from registration to race morning:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| October 19, 2026 | Entries opened on the official race website |
| December 15, 2026 | Entries close at midnight, or earlier if the race fills |
| January 29–31, 2027 | Race numbers in Dar es Salaam |
| February 2–3, 2027 | Race numbers in Arusha |
| February 4–6, 2027 | Race numbers in Moshi, at the MoCU Stadium |
| February 7, 2027 | Race day: 6:30 am full, 7:00 am half, 7:30 am 5 km |
Book your hotel as soon as you have entered. Moshi is a small town, and race weekend brings thousands of runners from Tanzania, the rest of East Africa and abroad, so the hotels closest to the MoCU Stadium go first.
Kili Marathon Race Transport Without a Hotel
Booked your own hotel, or staying with friends? We can handle just the logistics: pickup at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a ride to collect your race number at the MoCU Stadium, a drop-off at the start and a pickup after the finish on race morning, and the transfer back to the airport.
| Runners | Transport | Shuttle |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | US$480 | US$240 |
| 2 | US$310 | US$120 |
| 4 | US$230 | US$60 |
Prices are per runner. The transport pack covers the airport both ways, race-number collection and race morning. The Arusha shuttle is for runners staying in Arusha, about 1.5 hours away, who collect their numbers there on February 2 or 3; the drive leaves well before dawn to reach the 6:30 am start. Ask us for groups of five or six, which share one vehicle.
Climbing Mount Meru After the Kilimanjaro Marathon
If seven days on Kilimanjaro is too much after a marathon, Mount Meru, Tanzania's second-highest mountain, is a 3- or 4-day climb from Arusha, from US$1,150 per person for 3 days (2 climbers). The Momella route climbs through forest with buffaloes, giraffes and colobus monkeys to a summit ridge with Kilimanjaro on the horizon at sunrise. Start it on Tuesday, February 9, after a rest day, and you are back in Arusha by the end of the week.
Day Trips from Moshi for Marathon Supporters and Runners
Partners, friends and families have free time while runners rest before the race, and everyone has free time after it. These day trips leave from your Moshi hotel, with transport, a guide and lunch included:
| Day trip | From (per person) |
|---|---|
| Materuni waterfall and coffee tour | US$115 |
| Chemka hot springs | US$115 |
| Marangu village and waterfalls | US$115 |
| Coffee tour | US$123 |
| Lake Chala | US$123 |
| Kilimanjaro day hike | US$245 |
Children don't pay on our local trips from Moshi. Keep the day before the race easy for runners: the hot springs and the coffee tour are gentle, while the waterfall and the Kilimanjaro day hike involve real walking.
Why Book Your Kili Marathon Trip with a Moshi-Based Operator?
Many companies sell trips to Tanzania; few are based in the race town itself. This is what having our office and guides in Moshi means for your race weekend:
- We live in the race town: our office and guides are in Moshi, so we know the hotels, the roads around the MoCU Stadium and how long everything takes on race weekend.
- Everything around the race is handled: airport transfers, a hotel booked early, a driver for race-number collection and race morning, and a plan for your recovery.
- Safari and Kilimanjaro are what we do: our driver-guides trained at the College of African Wildlife Management in Mweka, and our mountain crews climb Kilimanjaro all year. We are a licensed operator (TALA licence 014271).
- One contact: our team answers on WhatsApp before and during your trip.
What Every Kilimanjaro Marathon Package Includes
Whichever package you choose, the race-weekend part is the same: you land, collect your number and reach the start without arranging anything yourself. Each package then adds its own recovery days, a hot-spring trip, a safari, a climb or the beach.
- Airport pickup and drop-off at Kilimanjaro International Airport
- A Moshi hotel at the level you choose, with breakfast
- A driver for race-number collection at the MoCU Stadium and for race morning
- The trips in each itinerary: the Chemka hot springs, the safari or the Machame climb
What Our Kilimanjaro Marathon Packages Don't Include
Your race entry and a few personal costs stay with you:
- Race entry, paid on the official race website in each runner's name
- International flights and visas (US$100 for US citizens)
- Tanzania's mandatory inbound travel insurance (US$44 per adult) and your own travel insurance
- Tips, drinks and meals not listed
