The same as on a private safari: a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, a window seat for every guest (at most 6), Wi-Fi (patchy in remote areas), charging points and a fridge for drinks; a driver-guide trained at Mweka; park fees; lodges at your chosen level; a lunch box on the first day; AMREF Flying Doctors evacuation cover. Send your dates, the safari you want and your lodge level, and we reply with the options. A 30% deposit confirms your place once the group is set, and the balance is paid on arrival.

Joining safaris suit solo travelers and couples who want to keep the cost down and enjoy meeting other people. They suit travelers with some flexibility on dates, because the group forms around requests. They are less suited to families with young children, keen photographers who need time at sightings, or anyone with a fixed date and no flexibility.

A Day on a Joining Safari
The day is the same as on a private safari: an early game drive, a picnic lunch, an afternoon drive and dinner at the lodge. The difference is that start times and how long to stay at sightings are agreed with your fellow travelers, and the guide balances everyone's wishes. Most groups find a rhythm by the end of the first day.
Lodges on a Joining Safari
Everyone in the group stays at the same lodges, usually at budget or mid-range level, so the group agrees the level when it forms. If you want a higher level than the others, we can usually book you a different room at the same lodge.
Tips and Extras on a Joining Safari
Groups usually agree a tip per vehicle per day for the guide, about US$40–60, and split it. Drinks and optional activities, such as a balloon flight, are paid individually.
