Concession Fees for Nights Inside the Parks
If you sleep inside a national park, as in the central Serengeti or on the Ngorongoro crater rim, a concession fee is charged per person per night on top of the entry fee. That is why lodges in Karatu or Mto wa Mbu, just outside the parks, keep a safari's price down, while camps inside the parks give you more time with the wildlife. On Kilimanjaro, park fees are charged for every day and night on the mountain, which is why longer routes cost more. Conservation, camping or hut and rescue fees, plus VAT, make up a large part of the climb price, along with the crew, food and equipment.

How Tanzania Park Fees Add Up: An Example

How Tanzania Park Fees Are Paid
Park fees are paid electronically, by card, through the government payment system; cash is not accepted at the gates.
