What You Need to Know: The 6-day luxury small-group safari costs from US$4,650 per person in a group of four and US$4,510 in a group of six, sharing rooms in pairs. A solo traveler joining a group, with a room of their own, pays from US$5,540. There are no fixed departure dates: we match travelers who ask for luxury level for the same dates, up to six per vehicle, each with a window seat. The price includes airport transfers, a night in Arusha, four safari nights at luxury lodges, all park fees and the crater service fee.
Who Is the Luxury Small-Group Safari For?
It is for travelers who want luxury lodges without paying for a whole vehicle: solo travelers, couples and friends who are happy to share game drives with like-minded people. The vehicle, the guide and the crater fee are split between everyone in the group, which is where the saving comes from; the lodges, meals and rooms stay the same as on a private luxury safari. It suits sociable travelers who don't mind agreeing the pace and the photo stops with others.

How We Form a Luxury Small Group
Our small groups are put together on request, not on a fixed calendar. How it works:
- Tell us your preferred dates and that you'd like the luxury small-group safari.
- We look for other travelers who have asked for luxury level on the same or nearby dates.
- We suggest the best match: your dates come first, and nearby dates only if they give you a group.
- Once the group is confirmed, everyone pays a 30% deposit and we confirm the lodges.
- If no group forms, you can travel privately, at the private price, or move your dates; we tell you early.

Sharing a Vehicle on a Luxury Safari
A shared safari works best when everyone agrees a few simple things at the start:
- Rotate seats so everyone has time on each side of the vehicle.
- Agree the pace and the photo stops together, and keep voices low at sightings.
- Be on time for early departures; the first hour of light is the best.
- Groups usually agree one tip per vehicle per day for the guide, about US$40–60, and split it.
More on the choice is in our guide to private or group safaris in Tanzania.
